I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no different from a slave, though he is the owner of everything, but he is under guardians and managers until the date set by his father. In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles of the world. But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

peace beyond understanding

section 2

The excellency of knowing Christ we are usually familiar with is the Peace that is beyond understanding philippians 4:7-9 . We all have experienced a human type of peace that is fleeting and deceptive as it is shaken and overthrown by the upheavals of circumstance, but the peace of Christ is a state of our inner being ephesians 3:16  isaiah 26:3  growing more and more stable, complete and fit in grace john 14:27 . Human peace is circumstantial and therefore naturally correlated to our surroundings, but the peace of Christ is relational and can only be correlated to Him isaiah 9:6  ezekiel 37:26-27 . Thus, His peace is beyond our understanding, especially experienced in the storms of this world matthew 7:24-25  as it transcends circumstance with the unfathomable riches of Jesus Himself psalm 18:2  psalm 61:2 .

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
