section 1
If we choose to pursue the unseen ii corinthians 5:7 , the yet unexperienced blessings of the Lord romans 9:30-32 , we are choosing the Lord over our own limited knowledge and experience joshua 24:15 . We are ending the debate of our own dilemmas and choosing to believe His Word over our own skepticism john 20:27 james 1:6-8 . If we really will implement His Word, the blessings He promised will start to grow up within us galatians 6:7-10 .
What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith; but the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness, have not attained their goal. Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone.
But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."
my notes:
Then He said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see My hands. Reach out your hand and put it into My side. Stop doubting and believe."
But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

section 2
The Lord’s blessings are experience through His virtues. Just as elements that make up any food (nutrients) are absorbed and useful to us through the eating of any particular food, or the qualities of any foods is experienced by the actually chewing of them, so the spiritual blessings of the Lord are literally experienced through His virtues john 6:35-64 . The experience of God’s blessings come from the obeying of…walking in…cooperating…agreeing…the unity with the character of the blessing psalm 128:1-2 .
If you want to experience being loved, you must also love others i john 3:16 . Not loving does not mean you are not loved, but how does one see if they chose to close their eyes?
If you want to experience joy you must choose to walk in gratitude, intentionally giving thanks to God in everything colossians 3:15-17 psalm 4:6-7 i thessalonians 5:16-18 .
Want your overactive mind to be at peace? Then you must choose to think about the Lord and walk in His ways over all your worries, schemes, desires, and predictions isaiah 26:3 philippians 4:4-9 colossians 3:1-4 ii corinthians 10:5 .
Are you looking for the strength to overcome all your trials? Take what strength you have judges 6:14-16 , making the constant decision to put on the armor of God over yourself and find that His strength has always been yours to wield against temptation ephesians 6:10-18 i peter 4:11 ii corinthians 12:9 .
Are you dissatisfied and feeling unable to better your own character? Your godliness and contentment spring up from seeking to glorify God and bless others with Him far more than you trying to simply better yourself matthew 5:6, 6:33 i timothy 6:5-6, 11 . Stability of life and reputation does not come from shoring up your own life, but rather serving other’s lives i timothy 3:13 romans 14:17-18 ; this even fills you with a humble confidence rather than constant self-conscious insecurity proverbs 28:1 .
Do you want a proper, insightful perspective on others, world events, your own hardships, etc.? Taking up Christ’s yoke of care for others matthew 11:29 will change your whole worldview and give you the ability to see into mysteries John 7:24 ii corinthians 5:16 ii corinthians 10:7 romans 12:2 ii timothy 2:7 . This willful submission to the Lord also has the blessing of giving your soul rest; the striving ceases isaiah 32:15, 17 ii corinthians 1:20 hebrews 4:10-11 isaiah 57:19-21 .
Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst. "...
"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. "Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. "This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. "I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh."
Then the Jews began to argue with one another, saying, "How can this man give us His flesh to eat?"
So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. "...
Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this said, "This is a difficult statement; who can listen to it?"...
"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. "But there are some of you who do not believe."...
Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, who walks in His ways! You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.
By this we know love, that He laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Many are asking, "Who can show us anything good?" Let the light of Your face shine on us, LORD. You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and new wine abound. I will both lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, LORD, make me live in safety.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
my notes:
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, Who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
my notes:
The LORD turned to him and said, "Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?"
"Pardon me, my lord," Gideon replied, "but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family."
The LORD answered, "I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive."
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
my notes:
If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
But seek first His kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain. But godliness with contentment is great gain.
But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.
my notes:
For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know Him now!
You are judging by appearances. If anyone is confident that they belong to Christ, they should consider again that we belong to Christ just as much as they do.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.
till the Spirit is poured on us from on high, and the desert becomes a fertile field, and the fertile field seems like a forest.
The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through Him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God.
...for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from His. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.
creating praise on their lips. Peace, peace, to those far and near," says the LORD. "And I will heal them."
But the wicked are like the tossing sea, which cannot rest, whose waves cast up mire and mud. "There is no peace," says my God, "for the wicked."
